We have an exciting program planned for FOCS 2024 consisting of conference talks (Days 2-4), workshops on Day 1, plenary talks and keynotes, and many more. Apart from the main program, we also have several community activities and events planned during FOCS 2024:
Job Openings Spreadsheet (asynchronous) : The Job Openings page has a spreadsheet with information about job openings in theoretical CS, to help graduating students and junior researchers. If your group plans to hire a postdoc, or a researcher (e.g., in industry), you can still use the following form to provide information about the job opening: https://forms.gle/vQGz4VZbzjMQPKQW6.
Industry Session (evening, Sunday – Day 1): There will be an Industry Session on Day 1 (Sunday, October 27th) from 5:30pm – 8:30pm, that is organized and sponsored by Google, and will feature researchers from industry research labs. There will also be dinner served midway through the session, but dinner will be limited to 100 people (through dinner coupons).
TCS-For-All Best Research Practices talk (lunch, Monday – Day 2): There will be a best practices talk by Ankur Moitra during the conference lunch on Monday, Day 2.
5. Scavenger Hunt (asynchronous): To help you explore Chicago while you’re here, we’re putting together a scavenger hunt! Working in teams, participants will send in photos of themselves with Chicago landmarks near the conference area. You are welcome to send in solutions before and throughout the conference. Join to explore the city, make friends, and potentially win prizes! See detailed instructions and clues here.
6. Junior-Senior Lunch (lunch, Tuesday – Day 3): We will have the popular Junior-Senior lunch on Tuesday (Day 3) during the conference lunch. See spreadsheet here. This is being organized by TCS-For-All.
7. Estimathon event (evening, Tuesday – Day 3): Our sponsor Jane Street is holding an Estimathon activity on Tuesday evening (Day 3) with dinner for those who register.
